By overcoming hurdles with a clear intention to contribute to social and economic growth, he has been serving his profession, the society, and the nation for more than 25 years. On one hand, he has delivered effective restructuring modules for the revival of distinct business houses; while on the other, he has been serving nation’s leading financial institutions and Associations as a member of Board.His membership of FICCI National Executive Committee and past directorships of Punjab National Bank and Dena Bank are a part of this.
His participation in country’s economic growth is phenomenon. Viewing the unparalleled expertise of Dr. Gupta, the Government of India has nominated him as a Director of General Insurance Corporation of India and Rural Electrification Corporation Limited. He bears on his shoulders the responsibility of servicing Steel Consumers’ Council, Ministry of Steel as an active member. Handling multiple tasks has never been a concern. He holds the associate membership of ASSOCHAM, CII, PhD Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and the Press Club of India, wherein he has delivered more than the expected results.
Born to a farmer with limited means and being in an infrastructure with lack of academic facilities, Chartered Accountancy was not an easy goal. Today, he proudly holds the membership of ICAI and adheres strictly to his professional obligations. Dr. Gupta’s awareness and analysis of the potential of Indian economy is exceptional. He has participated in numerous dialogues, the most prominent being the ‘Post Budget Discussion’ and ‘Banking Sector of India’ telecasted on DD National. The wide array of his contributions includes the books, ‘Service Tax’ and ‘Accounting Standards – An Overview’, which were authored by him in 2003.
Dr. Gupta holds a view that success cannot be attained by being within boundaries. As a Chairman of the Economic Affairs Committee of Unity International Foundation, he has been drafting result-oriented policies ensuring cordial relations among nations. His valuable guidance helped India Center Foundation (ICF) achieve success in the introduction of India-Japan Global Partnership and Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC).
Dr. Gupta has written immensely on varied subjects. His articles on economy and finance have been published in leading newspapers and magazines, including The Statesman and Organiser (mouthpiece of RSS). He has also penned a book titled ‘Thoughts Gallery’ which is a compilation of his blogs on national and global economic, political and business landscapes. The book is forwarded by Dr GVG Krishnamurthy (former Election Commissioner). Of late, he was a panelist on discussions related to banking and corporate on various news channels, including India Today, Aaj Tak, NDTV 24×7 and India TV.
Being an active member of Lion’s Club, betterment of the section of society deprived of fundamental necessities is a prominent part of Dr. Gupta’s vision. His membership of Gram Vikas Samiti, an association working for developing rural infrastructure, and Shri Krishan Gaushala, a society working for the welfare of cows and fighting the curse of malnutrition, is also a part of this. Ensuring that no stone is left unturned, he has been a contributor in almost every of the welfare programmes organized. As an accountable citizen, Dr. Gupta is sharing his academic knowledge and professional experience for the nation’s triumph.
