It is all about costs involved in conducting elections round the year for different states. This money can better be utilised for economic and social development of the country.
The propoganda is all targeted against regional political parties who will suffer the most if simultaneous elections are held. Cooperative federalism will lose its significance.
What do you expect with elections for both centre and states at same time? People will vote for one party in center and also in state, and this will ultimately result in autocratic decision making.
GST consensus could be reached by various political parties only after a decade of initial proposal so one must wait for at least 10 years before parties find a common ground in one nation one election.
Is election commission prepared for such an atmosphere where all states and centre will go for elections at the same time? Talk rationally about infrastructure and logistics and manpower.
Theis dream of PM Modi will result in benefit of either congress or BJP. This is because people will not vote for regional party in state polls due to preoccupation of mind by national polls.
There is no difference of ideology amongst political parties. They are all liberal, patriotic, conservative and socialist depending on what the mood of electorate is.
What will happen when no political party receives majority and coalition government is formed which is subsequently felled? Will re-elections be held for remaining term or full term?
